Q:How are your courses different from other online courses?
A:Time is precious. You have a need--and it is NOT to learn 14 Spanish tenses nor how to catch a taxi in Madrid. You simply need to communicate with your Spanish-speaking co-workers, clients, or employees.

We offer no gimmicky, "trademarked" slogans. We do not claim that you can learn Spanish in "10 minutes a day." We all know that true fluency takes years of study and immersion. We simply have designed a language program based on solid, adult-learning theory principles.

Here's what we know:

  • Adults do not have a lot of time.
  • Adults want to learn just the information they need--no more, no less.
  • Adults learn in many different ways. Some learn by seeing, some by hearing, some by reading, some by doing, and most learn by a combination!

Our online courses provide you the vocabulary and phrases to meet your objectives of communicating with your co-workers or employees by learning in an interactive, online environment. You can view photos to go along with each word, hear the proper pronunciation for you to practice over and over again, read dialogues that will help build your vocabulary, assess your progress along the way with quizzes, and learn about the values held by many Spanish-speaker through cultural lessons. And if you get stuck? We have a Spanish instructor available to answer any of your questions!

Our team has a passion for learning. We consist of nationally-recognized second language acquisiton experts and published Spanish instructors from the United States, Latin America, and Spain. We have spent years researching the best way to teach occupational Spanish online and in-person, to make our words and phrases most easily understood by people from all Spanish-speaking countries.

Our award-winning technology team has custom built a simple-to-use language learning platform. Our platform tracks your learning progress through 8 quizzes and a final exam, records the time you spend in the course, and automatically provides a Certificate of Completion upon passing your Final Exam.

But don't take our word for it! Try our demo and see how our simple approach to Spanish language acquisition will help meet your objectives of communicating with your Spanish-speaking clients and co-workers!

Q:How long are your courses?
A:All of our courses are self-paced (with an instructor available if you need it!). Therefore, you can spend as much or as little time that you need or want. You have access to our course for a full 6 months. Some students may spend as little as 5 hours in our course to build upon the vocabulary that they currently have. Others may spend over 40 hours truly diving in from the beginning and learning all 600+ words and phrases. We estimate that the average student spends approximately 16 to 24 hours in the online course during their 6 months of access.

Our courses consist of 8 lessons. Each lesson has 3-4 different vocabulary sub-topics. There is a short 10-question quiz to track your progress at the end of each lesson, with a 50-question Final Exam at the end of the course.

Q:What happens if I don't pass my quizzes or final exam?
A:You have the option to take each quiz or the final exam as many times as you would like. Our learning management system tracks the last quiz score and the best final exam score that you obtain. So if you are not happy with your score, you can keep taking the quiz or final until you are happy with it!
Q:What if I have a question?
A:Even though our courses are self-paced, remember that an instructor is available if you have a question or if something simply does not make sense and you need more examples. Just send an email to your instructor and you should have your answer within 24-48 hours!
Q:Are there any books or other materials to buy?
A:No. All of the information that you will need is contained in the course. The lessons within the courses, however, do follow along with "¡A Trabajar!", an occupational Spanish workbook used in classroom settings. This workbook is not necessary for the online class. Each course also includes a downloadable and printable reference guide, a 7+ page vocabulary list of the phrases and words covered in the course.
Q:I have never taken Spanish or I don't remember much Spanish that I have learned. Is this a problem?
A:No. No prior Spanish is assumed or required. Our only requirement is that you are interested in improving your communication skills for your workplace.
Q:I do not hear anything, but I know that there is audio with this course.
A: If there is no sound/audio when the course starts, there are a few things to double check on your computer:
  1. Make sure that your speakers are turned on and plugged in.
  2. Check to see if you can play other sounds on your computer.
  3. Check your volume setting in Windows by clicking: Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume control. Make sure that "Mute" or "Mute all" is not selected and adjust the volume and balance controls to the levels you prefer.
  4. Make sure that your anti-virus or anti-spyware isn't blocking some of the content. Try turning off your anti-virus or anti-spyware and see if this helps. If so, try setting your anti-virus or anti spyware up so that the content from www.prontolearning.com is allowed on your computer.
Q:When I click "Start" to start the course, nothing happens or a window comes up with an error message.
A:The course tries to open a new browser window called a popup window. Sometimes your browser will prevent this from happening. So, as the user, you have to tell the browser it is ok to allow a new window to open (allow a popup for this site).

To allow a popup in Internet Explorer, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the Launch button. You may also see message in your browser saying something about a popup being blocked and how to allow it. Simply follow the instructions to "allow a pop-up."

Q:What are the recommended computing requirements for taking a course?
A:Our online courses are 100% web-based. Therefore, they are compatible with PCs and Macs and can be accessed on any computer that has web access. We recommend the following computing requirements:
  • A broadband/high-speed connection (e.g., cable, DSL, T1) to the Internet.
  • A recent version of a web browser (at least Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Netscape 7.2 or higher, or Firefox 1.5 or higher)
  • Flash Player 8 or higher
  • A sound card and speakers or headphones.
  • A screen resolution of 800x600

Try the demo course. If you are satisfied with using the demo course, your computer should meet the requirements for any of our courses.

Q:Do I need Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player?
A:Our courses use Flash to deliver much of their lesson content. Flash is a commonly used web browser plug-in and is generally considered safe. You can download a current version of Flash here.

Q:How is taking an Internet course different from learning from a book?
A:Just like books, much of the information in this course will be in writing. And that's where similarities between books and your Spanish courses end. For example, our online courses are interactive. If you want to hear the pronunciation of a word, click on the word! If you want to hear it again and again, keep clicking on it. If you want to see an image associated with a word, go through the slideshow! Not sure if you got it the first time? Go forward and backward as often as you need to! Do you want to see a dialogue of how these words can really be used? First, try to figure it out on your own. Then check your assumptions instantly. And to track your progress? We have quizzes that are evaluated and feedback is given to you immediately. Whats more, our courses are crafted to exploit the interactive nature of the Internet, virtually ensuring that all of your course-related questions are answered.
Q:How is taking an Internet course different from classroom instruction?
A:Due to your busy schedule, we know how hard it can be to fit time in for a class. That is one of the main advantages of this online format. You can take the course when you want, where you want. Just log into your online classroom when you are ready to interact with your lessons and complete your quizzes. You have 180 days (6 months) to take and complete your Spanish courses--morning, afternoon, and night! And if you have questions, just send your instructor an email!
Q:What if I have a question that isn't answered on this page?
A:Send us an email at CustomerService@ProntoLearning.com. We'd be happy to help and get your question answered!
